Romy Gamboa-Vincoy died Aug. 18 in Pasig City. The former Lombard resident was 77.
He is survived by his wife, Fely, who is inviting their friends and relatives to join the memorial mass on Sept. 27, 2 pm. at St. Eulalia Catholic Church in Maywood, IL. Vincoy was a member of the Hinsdale Masonic Lodge. A winner of the "Tawag ng Tanghalan," Romy rendered songs during many social events in the Chicago area. He was buried at the St. Peter memorial Park in Q.C.
Dr. Cesar Tobias Abiera, Sr., a native of Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija, passed away on Aug. 7 at the age of 88 due to congestive heart/kidney failure at Orlando East Hospice in Orlando, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ester; survived by his children Cesar Jr. (Helen), Jonathan (Nancy), Nathan (Rose), Jeffrey (Ellen), Arlene (George); and grandchildren Sean, JC, Lana (Brian) and Sandra (Mike); and great-grandchildren Maddox, Channing, Vincent, Danielle, Joey, JJ, Joshua and MilaRose.
He is survived by his siblings Tony (Esther), Fely Aduana, Soledad Luague, Rudy (Marina), Minda Ulangkaya, Romy, Edna (Fred Benemerito), Rudy (Marina), Sally (Mike Beloso), and Ruby (Rudy Figueroa).
He was a WWII Guerilla Fighter at age 15. He was a pilot and practiced dentistry after the war.
He later pursued a career as a Registered Medical Technologist. He was the Hematology Supervisor at Rush Presbyterian St Luke's Hospital; later worked in various positions at Grant, Henrotin, Norwegian and Martha Washington Hospitals in Chicago. Later in his career, he owned Subway Sandwiches fast-food chains franchise and started a Medical Supply Exports business.
Epifanio Jacinto passed away on Aug. 3 at the age of 75. Mr. Jacinto is a retired Certified Public Accountant and active in the Lions Club in the Chicago area. Wake was held at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home on Aug. 10 & 11 in Chicago. Interment was at Maryhill Cemetery on Aug. 12.
Bella Lara Ynares of Harwood Heights, IL. died Aug. 6. She would have been 71 years old on Sept. 16.
She is survived by her husband, Marianito, their children Titus (Cecile), Regence Norwoods (Joel) and grandchildren Thor, Gino and Marco.
She retired from the Chicago Reed Hospital where she worked as a nutritionist. She is the eldest of eight children and was originally from Angono, Rizal.
A wake was held at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles on Aug. 13, funeral mass was at Immaculate Conception Church on Aug. 14, internment followed at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery in Niles.
Stephen M. Callada, 35, of Westchester, died suddenly Aug. 24. His parents are Maria "Mercy" (Tom) Matousek and Jose Callada Sr. He is also survived by his brother Chris (Rachel) Callada; nephew and nieces-- Michael, Victoria & Emma. Funeral was on Aug. 29 at Hursen Funeral Home in Hillside and mass was celebrated at Divine Infant Church in Westchester.
Stephen's mother is the incoming chairperson of the Philippine Independence Week Committee.
