Friends of Alfredo Sobrevilla (seated 2nd from right in blue shirt) gathered to pray the Nine Day Novena for the Dead at the Benesa residence in Skokie for his mother Feliza Sobrevilla, 91, who passed away on Sept. 1 in La Union. Feliza is survived by her husband and six children. Burial Sept 15.

 

Irene Cacao, 88

Irene Cacao died on August 28. She was 88. Her wake was held Sept. 11 at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels in Roselle, Illinois with a funeral mass held at Resurrection Catholic Church. Interment Maryhill Catholic Cemetery.

 

Bonifacio D. Quiaoit, 83

Bonifacio D. Quiaoit died on September 1. He was 83. Husband of Mila Quiaoit. Father of Melanie Soleno, Jocelyn (Rey) Bae, Greg (Patricia) Quiaoit, Bernadette Quiaoit, Gerard (Marla) Quiaoit and Peter (Hilly Ann) Quiaoit. Grandfather of Noel, Kasey, Jigo, Lia, Nathan, Matthew, Joshua, Paulo, Trish Ann and Michael. Sibling of Maria Clarita Recto and Ophelia Blanchard. Wake held at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home in Palatine. Funeral mass at St. Thomas of Villanova Church. Interment in the Philippines.

 

Eliseo C. Jereza, 82

Eliseo C. Jereza died on Sept. 2. He was 82. He is survived by his wife Lorna and his children Hansel (Christine) and Aldwin (Hanneh). Survived by grandchildren Jalen, Jameson, Colson and Cody. He earned a Business Degree from Central Philippines University. He and his family had been longtime Skokie residents until he suffered a stroke last year. He and his wife were then taken in by his son in Naperville. Eliseo worked for the US EPA. Wake held Sept. 9 at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Homes & Crematory in Naperville, IL. Interment will be held at Risen Lord Cemetery.

 

Calvin L. Ramirez, 28

Calvin Laguit Ramirez of Wilmette passed away on September 10. He was 28 years old. Calvin was the son of Enrique and Marylou and the brother of Jess and Walter. Wake September 16. In a prayer service at Haben Funeral Home & Crematory, his classmates at New Trier High School joined his relatives. Calvin is an organ donor. His uncle Francisco De Leon eulogized him as a young man whose death was not in vain because even in his passing several people have benefited from his organ donation. Cremation private.

 

Rogelio E. Mendoza, 69

Rogelio E. Mendoza of Chicago passed away at Journey Care Hospice on August 20 at the age of 69. He is survived by sisters Lorna M. Cordero of Round Lake, IL and Virginia E. Mendoza of Bacoor, Cavite. Brothers Eulogio and Ernesto E. Mendoza of Bacoor,Cavite and Ramon E. Mendoza of Round Lake, IL. Nephews, nieces, cousins, grand children and friends. Private funeral proceedings was held and remains will be brought back to the Philippines.
