Dr. Felix G. Panahon, age 80, passed away on Feb. 18. He is survived by his wife Bituin; he is survived by his children: Felix III (Carine), Edward (Constance Runyan) and Andrew Panahon. He was the grandfather of Sophie, Owen and Eric. He was the sibling of Virginia (Jamie) Valencia; brother-in-law of Marlen and Rene Rodriguez.
Dr. Panahon's wake was held at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass at Queen of All Saints Basilica. Interment at Maryhill Cemetery.
Leilani Dequilla-Decastro, 60, passed away on Feb. 9. Born in Dumangas, Iloilo to rice farmers Soledad and Serafin Dequilla Sr., she was the third youngest of thirteen children. In 1974 she graduated from Ramon Magsaysay Cubao Quezon City, and immigrated to the United States in the winter of 1980 with the rest of her family.
She was an active member of the Filipino Association of Saint Gregory Catholic Church in Chicago; known for her passion, dedication and service. Mrs. Decastro is survived by her husband, David Froma Decastro; sister, Leda Dequilla Bahonsua; and brothers Rey, Abel, and Renato Dequilla.
Irene N. Mangune passed away on Feb. 5. She was 80 years old.
She was predeceased by her husband Cenon Mangune; mother of Ramon Mangune, Caroline (Mark) Alanis, and Jerry (Tricia) Mangune; adoring grandmother of Herchel, Tristan, Kevin, and Kala Mangune, Alexandria, Andrea, and Gabrielle Alanis; great-grandmother of Sebastian and Evan; sibling of Ludy, Cesar, Francisco, the late Larry and Lolita Nunez.
Her wake was held at Drake & Son Funeral Home in Chicago which was followed by a funeral mass at St. Hilary.
Alicia M. Brace, 72, beloved daughter of the late Jose and Judith Macute; loving aunt, sister and friend of many. Her wake and funeral service to celebrate her life was held Feb. 14, at Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home in Niles. Burial will be in Dipolog City Cemetery, Philippines.
